Crispy fried wonton shells filled with seasoned shredded chicken, fresh cabbage slaw, and a spicy sriracha mayo—an easy Asian‑Mexican fusion taco perfect for any night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 square wonton wrappers (about 10‑cm squares)
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie or poached)
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 cup finely shredded red cabbage
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: sliced avocado
  • pickled jalapeños
  • or crumbled queso fresco

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the shredded chicken with taco seasoning, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Set aside while you prepare the other components.,Prepare the slaw by combining red cabbage, carrots, cilantro, lime juice, a pinch of salt, and a drizzle of honey in a separate bowl.
  3. Mix gently until the vegetables are evenly coated.,Make the sriracha mayo by whisking together mayonnaise, sriracha, and a splash of lime juice.
  4. Adjust the heat level by adding more sriracha if desired.,Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium‑high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C) or until a small piece of wonton sizzles and turns golden within 30 seconds.,Working in batches, carefully place one wonton wrapper in the oil.
  5. Fry for 30‑45 seconds, then flip and fry the other side for another 30 seconds, or until both sides are golden‑brown and crisp.
  6. Use tongs to transfer the fried wonton to a paper‑towel‑lined plate to drain excess oil.,While the wontons are still warm, gently press each one into a taco‑shaped mold or your hand to create a shallow cup.
  7. Fill each cup with a spoonful of seasoned chicken, top with a generous heap of slaw, drizzle with sriracha mayo, and add any optional garnishes you prefer.,Serve immediately with extra lime wedges on the side.
